Celebrate the Spirit of Spring

Thursday, April 16th – 6pm-8pm

Join Louise to celebrate the arrival of spring!  The campfire will likely still be brewing up Manitoba Maple Syrup.  Baby trees will be sprouting roots. In the studio, help us taste test some new herbal tea combinations!  We will also be testing some of Louise’s new herbal skin creations!  Of course, we’ll have a quick barn tour for some critter dopamine happiness.

This event is free but registration is required: https://aurorafarm.ca/product/celebrate-the-spirit-of-spring/

Red Dress Earth Day at Aurora Farm

Date: April 22, 2026
Time: 5pm to 8pm
Location: Aurora Farm, 4265 Waverley St

Join in for community, learning and preparation as we gather at Aurora Farm in the spirit of action, reflection and solidarity to prepare for Red Dress Day.

  • Teachings Around the Fire: Gather around the campfire with Cedar Clements, Travis Barsy and Susie Krivak of Changemaker 231 who will be giving teachings and offering space for reflection, learning and grounding.
  • Special Guest Jamie Black, RedDress Project creator artist will present an informal artist talk at 6pm.  For over 16 years, Jamie has built the Red Dress icon to represent this critical social justice movement.  Never before has a work of art become such a widespread representation to be named a National Day of Awareness.
  • Red Dress Preparation: Bring a red dress to be respectfully smudged in preparation for display. Participants are encouraged to approach this with care, as these dresses hold deep meaning and represent lives lost.
  • Seed Packages:  Help make seed packages to giveaway at the May 5th rally.
  • Gifts for Volunteers and Elders:  Aurora Farm will be donating gift bags for the Volunteers and Elders making the May 5th walk possible.  We will be putting those gift bags together this evening so help with many hands will make light work!
  • Felt and Beaded Red Dress Pins: Take part in a hands-on bead-in to create pins that honour and remember MMIWG2S+ while fostering connection and conversation.

All are welcome to attend. This is an opportunity to come together in a good way, to prepare both practically and spiritually for May 5 and the ongoing call for justice.

Aurora Farm is on Treaty One and recognizes the colonial harms to Indigenous people worldwide.  We acknowledge the traditional knowledge of Indigenous women and seek to join in solidarity with the MMIW2S+ movement to create a more just society.
This event is co-sponsored by Changemakers 231 Inc. and the Council of Canadians.
