Summer 2020 Aurora Farm Camp
REGISTRATION IS OPEN! PLEASE READ THIS PAGE THOROUGHLY.
Looking for an opportunity to learn all about farm animals in a friendly, safe environment? During this camp, youth between the ages of 8 and 15 will learn the basics of horseback riding, safety and horse care. They will also visit and learn how to care for our many other friendly animals, including goats, alpacas, sheep, cats, and chickens. Each day will include doing farm chores (feeding and checking on all the animals), a theory lesson, a riding lesson and fun farm activities. Each afternoon will include hands-on craft activities unique to Aurora Farm like making our own natural care products, felting projects with alpaca fleece, soap molds and carving, garden harvest projects like drying herbs for teas, making smudge sticks and more! Students must bring their own lunch. If you’ve attended Camp in previous years, this year may have slightly shorter horse rides, and more activities with the other animals. Everyone will still have plenty of riding time.

Notes for youth who are coming to camp:
Please make sure that you have long pants and cool long-sleeved shirts as well as a change of clothes to shorts and t-shirt. For horse back riding you need a solid shoe or boot with a low or no heel that you don’t mind getting a little dirty. You can bring a second pair of shoes that are lighter but please NO SANDALS – they are not safe on a farm. You can bring your own bike helmet if you like but we also have riding helmets for all. Please pack a lunch and bring along a water bottle. One day we will be giving the alpacas a shower so you will need bathing suits and towel for that day – we’ll let you know which day! Please make sure the you have a sun hat, sun screen and bug spray.
Please let your family know that there will be a Horse Show and Show-and-Tell on the Friday afternoon of the camp.
